Year in Review: QX70 vs Rivals Sales Wise
Feb 07, 2014 - 6:14 PM - by coochie
So to keep this relatively fair I decided to look at Japanese rivals only. To compare QX70 with the Teutonic beasts of BMW, Mercedes and Audi would be a touch skewed.
QX70 2013 Sales
MDX 2013 Sales
Lexus RX 2013 Sales:
What do you guys think is going on? I mean the Lexus sold more vehicles in february than QX70 moved all year, same goes for MDX in December. I know th eeasy answer is that Qx70 is long in the teeth, but even that i think only partially explains the dichotomy. If you look at past FX sales data its only breached the 30K mark once and that was back in 2004. DO you think QX70 is falling victim to shifting market trends? Perhaps the QX70's niche is dwindling, is there really room on the market for a vehicle like the QX70?
The other explanation is that perhaps its unfair to compare QX70 to rivals like the RX and MDX which move heavy volume. Would it of been more fair to compare QX70 with say Porsche's Cayenne and the BMW X6?

2014 Infiniti QX70 5.0L Review

First QX70 5.0 review I have seen in a while.
2014 Infiniti QX70 5.0 review notes,pricing,specs,photos - Autoweek
You can read it for yourself but they basically say the 5.0L is heavier than the V6 and isnt as agile in the turns. It does go like a rocket when you slam the pedal down but they mention that in sports mode there is a noticeable decrease in ride comfort as it stiffens up. They think the steering is too heavy
My thoughts: I like heavy steering and i can't stand the light steering of most 2013 cars. yes of course the 5.0L V8 is heavier. And isn't the whole point of the sport mode to stiffen up the suspension? Isn't a harsher ride expected? This isn't $30,000 race suspension... The dampers are good for the price but you can't expect them to ride like a Bugatti (which is still pretty harsh in sports mode tbh)
