Default This is the story on QX70

And the collaboration continues between Mercedes and Infiniti. Fresh on the heels of the MFA architecture underpinning small vehciles from both companies (CLA, GLA, A, Q30) the two have hopped back in the sack.

According to Bloomberg the two are developing a mid range platform together that should bear fruits by 2017. 2017 if you remember is when we should be expecting the next gen QX70 (FX). The word is that the next gen QX70 will share its bones with the next gen Mercedes ML. Both are due for redesigns by that time.

2017 seems like a pretty good timeline for the next-gen QX70. The QX70 was last facelifted in 2011, so it is still a pretty new design. 2017 seems like it will be just the right time to update.

Do you think the new platform will make big changes to the next-gen QX70?

REALLY?

I had a 2009 and now have a 2013. If they were parked side by side, you couldn't tell which was which. Changes in the dashboard occur regularly, but are very minimal.

Formerly 2006 FX45 Serengeti Sand and Wheat, Chrome Pillars, Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

Formerly 2009 FX50S, Umbria Twilight and Wheat, Chrome Pillars. Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

Presently 2013 FX50S, Umbria Twilight and Wheat, Chrome Pillars. Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

It's a great car!

Changes are minimal, but they do exist. Notice the changes to the front grille and fog lights. The headlights also look slightly different.

Regardless of how much change there was, it still means that a new QX70 is probably a ways away.

I'd love to see the GT-R's engine or a version of it be in the QX70. Keep it true to nissan/infiniti

I'm realatively sure the differences you're using as argument are actually differences in trim levels....

It'll fit too! GT-R rides on a modified FM platform, just like QX70. GTR uses a blown VQV6, guess what engine the QX70 uses, VQV6.

ITS HAPPENING!!!

not likely...

it's crazy how many times they've used this platform for a lot of vehicles.

Quote:
Nissan Skyline/Infiniti G35 V35-series
Nissan Fuga/Infiniti M Y50-series
Nissan 370Z Z34-series
Nissan 350Z Z33-series
Nissan Stagea M35-series
Infiniti FX SUV
Infiniti EX SUV
Nissan Elgrand E51-series ( not front-mid, but same platform )
GT-R engine in EVERYTHING...

Kidding.

component sharing is the only way to effectively keep costs low. The only logical explanation I can think of for moving QX70 to a joint platform with Mercedes is to impart a bit more ruggedness into the platform. perhaps off road capabilities...
