Default Infiniti QX70 vs. BMW X6 vs. Acura ZDX

Once upon a time the QX70 was unique among its competitors with its emphasis on wild styling over interior space. There are now more serious competitors, like the BMW X6 and the Acura ZDX. This thread will lay out some info on each vehicle so we can see how they compare.

QX70 MSRP - $44,950

The QX70 is underpinned by the same RWD-architecture that is used by the 370Z. It has two engines to choose from: a 3.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, or a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 390 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy comes in at 17/24 city/highway mpg and 16/22 for FWD and AWD V6 models, respectively, while the V8 returns 14/20 mpg.

The interior uses premium materials, like soft leather, brushed aluminum and genuine wood trim. Plenty of buttons instead of an infotainment controller, which could be for better or for worse. plenty of options are available in three packages. Stand outs include the navigation system in the Premium package, and the Intelligent Cruise Control system in the Technology package.

BMW X6 MSRP - $59,800

The BMW X6 comes with two different engine options. The first is a 3.0 liter inline-six with a single turbocharger. That motor makes 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque, and gets 16/23 mpg. The other engine option is the more powerful twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8. That engine produces 400 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for the V8 is 14/20 mpg.

Options include the M Sport Package which boosts horse power up to 315 or 440 depending which engine you have. The package also gives you some extras like 20" alloy wheels, black chrome exhaust tips, and stainless steel pads. Other options include heated seats and steering wheel , a navigation system, a 600-watt premium audio system, multicontour seats, a lane departure warning system, dynamic cruise control and a rear parking camera.

Acura ZDX MSRP - $50,920

The Acura ZDX is going to be discontinued at the end of the current model year. The ZDX runs on a 3.7-liter V6 which will produce 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy comes in at 16/22 mpg.

The interior of the ZDX is similar to the TL sedan. There is a center navigation screen which is mounted high on the center stack. The ZDX comes in one near fully-loaded trim levels. A standard model comes with perforated Milano leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a navigation system with an eight-inch display, a 10-speaker, 435-watt ELS surround system with 15 GB of memory and USB and AUX connectivity, a rear camera, front parking sensors, a smart key with push-button start, a panoramic sunroof and dual-zone automatic climate control. (wow)

BMW and Acura need to do something about their interior's, Both are outdated.
Infiniti is the only one that managed to keep everything modern and a bit ahead of it's time

The ZDX is a great looking car from the outside though. And the interior isn't bad, it's just not as nice as the Infiniti interior. Surprisingly I think that the BMW has the worst interior.

BMW does offer the most powerful engine though, and you can't argue with that.

I fail to see a reason to get the X6 over the X5.

What exactly is the difference again?

And I fail to see why anyone would buy the ZDX

the ZDX is a copycat abortion of the X6 which is an abortion in itself... Be careful when you say the BMW has the worst interior, have you sat in it and touched everything. Material quality and fit and finish blow the other two away. Its more than just leather color and where the nav screen is.

You make a good point on the quality of BMW interiors. They may not have the most appealing design or the best and unique colors to choose from but the build quality is amazing.

Materials is a good point to bring up. Does BMW use real leather in their interiors? I think that Infiniti uses a fake leather. Not sure about Acura, but it looks fake in the picture.

I find the black on black Infiniti interior a bit bland for me. I would choose to have some type of accent material. But mainly black is a much more masculine look.

The seats in the Infiniti are real leather.

By the way, VQV6, the Wheat interior shown in the first photo looks really good in person. My three FX's have had that interior.

Formerly 2006 FX45 Serengeti Sand and Wheat, Chrome Pillars, Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

Formerly 2009 FX50S, Umbria Twilight and Wheat, Chrome Pillars. Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

Presently 2013 FX50S, Umbria Twilight and Wheat, Chrome Pillars. Every manufacturer option except back seat video.

It's a great car!
