Default Infiniti QX70 Ultimate Trim at the Frankfurt Motor Show

The QX70 is due for a redesign, and indeed the 3rd generation is in development, but until then Infiniti is offering customers a new 'Ultimate' trim level to try to help steady sales.

The Infiniti QX70 Ultimate has a healthy list of standard equipment and some subtle, but elegant styling updates. Nothing is revolutionary, but it definitely updates the QX70 in a way that makes it more competitive with its formidable rivals -- vehicles like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and the BMW X6.

Exterior changes to the QX70 include an Ultimate badge, its chrome pieces painted black, a splitter added to the front bumper, and a rear diffuser with an F1-style red fog lamp mounted at the center. There are also new 21-inch anthracite alloy wheels.

Moving to the interior of the QX70 Ultimate, there are added black lacquer finishes, purple stitching and soft leather. This improves upon the feeling of luxury that the standard QX70 already employs.

There are two engines available. One is a 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine (325 HP and 267 lb-ft of torque) and the other is the 3.0-litre V6 diesel (240 HP and 406 lb-ft of torque). One of the missing things from the QX70 ultimate is the 5.0-litre V8 engine which was the most powerful engine available for the 2014 model year.

The QX70 Ultimate is currently on sale in Western Europe and Russia, but it will not be sold in North America.

2013 style turbine wheels and a hideous rear diffuser, this "Ultimate" version must be a joke. And sorry but there is in no way any comparison to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S model.

They need to be, and likely are, focusing on the 2017/18 redesign as opposed to putting out this so called Ultimate version.

Right on the ball, this is exactly what i was thinking about it, just straight disappointments. What would have been nice and probably more effective is doing what they did to the Q70 L to this. A great way to end the production cycle.
