Now if you had asked me this time in 2014 if the QX70 would be moving more or less volume in a years time I would of said less. Logically too, with Lexus, Mercedes, Audi and Land Rover all debuting vehicles over the last 12 months that operate either in direct competition to the QX70 or at least in the periphery, it was easy to call the long in the tooth SUV dead in the water.
Interestingly despite the additional pressure Infiniti is still managing to move the QX70 in volume on par with 2013, before the nomenclature change. For March Infinti had sold 2 less in 2015 then 2014, 575 to 577 YoY and YTD they're down 7.9% after weak postings in the first two months of the year.
For those of you keeping score at home despite the not haemorrhaging volume small victory there is a mountain to climb if Infiniti is looking for anywhere near the recognition as its Japanese brethren Lexus and Acura, who manage to sell nearly the annual volume of the QX70 in one month.
The QX70 may be long in the tooth but despite that the VQV6 continues to be a rock solid motor albeit with a thirsty nature and the FM as always delivers a solid and sporty experience (if not a little hefty but I digress). They're selling with excellent discounts right now and while discounts may not scream luxury they certainly scream good buy and the QX70 is if you don't mind missing out on boothtooth foot massagers and Wi-Fi hand gliding...
